Why does my vauxhall omega [ecotech engine 1997 2.0 ltr cut out intermittently?

the orange management light comes on and engine loses power but dosn't actually stall this can happen once a month or twice a day happened on the motorway today bit dodgy now ! time for help with a cure any ideas please pete m
